What is Astrology? As Above So Below!
What is your sign? That is something that may come to your mind when you hear the word astrology. But do you really know what the true origin and meaning of astrology is? Or do you know what has been programmed into your mind by Western civilization and science? Let's start by defining astrology.
The first thing I want to do is give you a definition of astrology by a Western Civilization organization that is designed to program our youth and put in our minds what they want us to conform to. Pay Attention to the Terms they use to push the western narrative. That organization is Britanica. According to Britannica Astrology is :
“Astrology is a type of divination that involves the forecasting of earthly and human events through the observation and interpretation of the fixed stars, the Sun, the moon, and the planets. Devotees believe that an understanding of the influence of planets and stars on earthly affairs allows them to both predict and affect the destinies of individuals, groups, and nations. Though often regarded as a science throughout its history, astrology is widely considered today to be dramatically opposed to the findings and theories of modern Western science.”
For anyone who Googles what astrology is, this is one of the definitions they will initially encounter designed to sway their minds that it is not scientific and is opposed by Western science.
Simply put, Astrology is the study of how planetary events actively mirror or foreshadow earthly events.
Cultures all over the Earth have studied the relationship between the sky and our lives here on Earth. What is practiced today can be dated back to ancient Egypt. Modern astrology has four main components, the planets, the zodiac signs, the houses, and the relationship between planets.
Astrological charts are developed from these four components. These charts consist of a wheel divided into 12 zodiac signs which align with 12 houses or also known as areas of life. The signs and houses are populated with planets which are in relationship to one another.
There are five main branches of Astrology:
Natal astrology focuses on your birth chart which is a snapshot of the sky at the time of your birth. Mundane astrology analyzes the cycles and patterns in the sky and compares them to different events on earth. Horary astrology casts a chart to divine an answer for a particular question. Electional astrology helps people choose a date for an important event. Relationship astrology brings two or more birth charts together to review how the placements interact, and how the individuals connect with each other.
People have often debated how astrology works. There is no definite answer to that. Astrology is rooted in the principles of geometry and astronomy. It is built on intricate logic and magical thinking. Belief in the supernatural link between planets and earth events has predated human record keeping. It wasn't until the rise of the church that Astrology left a negative opinion on civilization. The church deemed magic, astrology, alchemy, and related crafts as heretical and sinful.
The traditional theories of astrology are simple. They are based on the hermetic principle As above, so below. As within, so without. We don't know why, but the movement of the celestial bodies above mirrors life on earth below.
There are many different trails that I can take in covering everything about astrology and we will discover many theories and astrological practices in future blogs.
The important thing that this Scorpio blogger wants you to take away from this reading is no different than other blogs. Do not allow the programming of Western religion and governments program your thinking. Empty your mind and discover what the Universe has to offer. Look into the topic yourself.
Walk outside at night and look at the night sky. There is so much to discover about ourselves up there. There is so much that we see up there that aligns with us down here. The sky. The stars. The planets. The season. The Equinoxes. There is so much to discover about ourselves by studying these things. There is so much to learn.
Our Ancient Ancestors would sit at the fire and look at this same sky (with a clearer, better view) and discuss with each other the meanings of what they saw. They would organize and live their lives based upon the events in this sky.
I hope this has helped you to want to see astrology from a different view point. I hope this helps you realize you are not alone in your astrological beliefs.
Thank you for reading!
