Reishi- 3 benefits to improve your health.
I read an article today that less than 1% of the world's fungi have been studied by modern science.
Really!?!
What benefits are waiting to be discovered when the world finally decides to study the fungi network?
We live on a planet of untouched and undiscovered beings, resources, elements and phenomenon.
There is a rush to explore space, and I am not against exploring space, I think it is needed; but I strongly believe there is so much of our Earth that needs to be explored.
We have become so technical driven that we forget the benefits that nature and the Earth can provide for us. We need to bring back a herbalist mentality for our health and well being.
The Reishi mushroom is one of many fungi that can do just that. Reishi has had a reputation to improve health documented back at least 2400 years. But, it has been utilized as a medicinal herb for over 4,000 years.
The first emperor of China, Emperor Yan, was the father of Chinese agriculture and the author of medicinal plants. Emperor Yan said the following about reishi: "If eaten customarily, it makes your body light and young, lengthens your life, and turns you into the immortal who never dies "
So where can one find this "Mushroom Of Immortality"? It varies, depending on habitat, but mostly they can be found on the stumps of dead or dying hardwood trees. Perhaps, as I have, you may find them growing out of the ground on underground roots.
There are many health benefits that the reishi mushroom provides. There are three main benefits that I see as most important for health in today's American society.
The first is reishi will help boost your immune system. Current research shows reishi can affect the genes in white blood cells, which in turn helps the immune system.
The second is reishi has anticancer properties. In fact, many studies have shown it can lead to the death of cancer cells.
The third way reishi impacts our health is it can help heart health and blood sugar. It can decrease blood sugar levels while increasing good cholesterol and lower triglycerides.
If we can get these health benefits from reishi, then what benefits can we get from the other 99% of fungi that are out there and have not been studied?
We have a vast expanse of nature willing and able to provide the resources we need for good health. So let's stop our fast paced lives, get out in nature and explore what it has to offer. The next time you see a mushroom, you can ask what benefits it provides for you and if it's been researched! There is nothing to fear, after all, they are just a bunch of fun gis.
