The Polar Bear.
I currently have 4 spirit animals that accompany me in my meditational journeys. The Koala, Eagle, Hawk, and Frog continue to guide me and protect me as I journey throughout realms and the universe.
In my travels I also have the opportunity to encounter and meet other animals and beings from the universe. One of the animals that I encountered when I journeyed to meet the Inuit man was the polar bear. So let's get to know the polar bear a little bit better.
The polar bear is native to the Arctic region and is very similar to the brown bear. It is the largest species of bear currently living and can weigh between 660 to 1760 pounds. It has white to yellowish fur with black skin and a thick layer of fat. It has sharp teeth that are more adapted to cutting meat and its paws allow it to walk on ice and paddle in the water.
They prefer l to live on the sea ice, but will live on the land When the ice melts in the summer. They prey on seals, walruses, beluga whales, and some terrestrial animals. They usually are solitary but when they are living on the land, you may find them living in groups.
The polar bear is considered a vulnerable species. Its total population is between 22,000 to 31,000. Its biggest threats are climate change, leading to declining sea ice, pollution and energy development.
The polar bear has been known by many names. The name polar bear was given in 1771 by Thomas Pennant. In the 13th to 18th centuries it was called “ice bear”, “sea bear”, and “Greenland bear”. The Norse referred to it as isbjorn or ice bear and hvitebjorn or white bear. The Inuit people call it nanook.
Polar Bears are respected by the Inuit people as the most intelligent animal in the Arctic. It is a symbol of the resilience, patience And determination that is needed to survive in that harsh of a climate.
Polar Bears are a good omen and in most cultures their appearance signifies a new start. They also bring new beginnings, good luck and abundance.
They symbolize strength, power, and leadership. They remind us to stay curious, and to continuously keep learning. They are a symbol of family and togetherness.
If the Polar Bear is your spirit animal it means you are curious, intuitive and have a humorous side. You have a love for friends and family but you also know how to trek it alone. Your polar bear energy guides you to be fiercely fearless and always moving forward.
When I met the polar bear in my meditational journey, I was very alarmed at first. But the Inuit man reassured me it was safe, that in his dimension we were all one and humans and animals were friends.
I didn't get to interact with the polar bear because I went into the igloo to meet with the Inuit man. But now I want to. I want to go back and experience and learn as much as I can with this magnificent animal.
Humans are the most powerful species on Earth. With that power comes great responsibility to take care of the other beings of the Earth. But instead our actions are causing the other species to disappear, just like our actions have caused many cultures to disappear too.
Polar Bears, a magnificent animal and symbol of determination and resilience, but endangered by the carelessness of the human race.
