Discovering Runes

Discovering Runes.

As I started my spiritual journey earlier this year, it has taken me to many places and many discoveries. Through it all I have discovered more about who I am and what skills the universe has given me.

Through my meditational journeys I have traveled to many places, met spirit guides and animals, spirits and many other beings. I have discovered that I have been given the skills of clairvoyance. Now I am on a journey to discover how to apply that to my life.

One of my areas of study has also been genealogy and my ancestry. I have discovered that this Earthly shell has a heritage in Celtic, Norse and German culture. I am trying to discover and learn as much as I can about those ancient cultures.

The combination of discovering My clairvoyant skills and the research of my ancient cultures has led me to discover runes. So today we are going on a journey to discover what runes are.

Runes are considered an ancient form of oracle used by those seeking advice. They have a long history used in ancient cultures by Germanic, Norse, and Celtic culture.

Runes consist of a runic alphabet of 24 letters and are usually made out of wood or stone. The first completion of the total alphabet was the Elder Futhark in the 5th century and is the most often used today. The Younger Futhark stones were adapted by the Vikings and other Nordic tribes and continued through medieval times.

Each rune symbol was an ideographic or pictographic symbol of some cosmological principle or power. To write or engrave a runic symbol was to invoke or direct the force it stood for. The name and look of each rune hinted at the philosophical and magical significance. Their characters would contain their own magical attributes, and the pronunciation of each rune name would carry meaning as well.

The origin of the word rune comes from the German word for mystery or secret and are similarly found in Old Irish Gaelic, Welsh and Old English.

Today runes are used as a method to help connect to one's higher self and tapping into intuition as a method for foretelling what the future may hold and offering advice.

The Elder Futhark runic alphabet is divided into 3 equal parts. Freyr's Aett is the first set of 8 and is representative of finding our footing in the material plane. The 2nd set is called Heimdall's Aett and tells of our maturity and growth. The last set is called Tyr's Aett and portrays our developing spirituality and legacy.

The most popular way to get runes is to make your own by inscribing them on wood or drawing them on stones. There are many different ways and formulas to cast runes and I believe you need to just do what is the best for you.

This has just been my initial journey into discovering Runes and how they were used by my ancient ancestors. I am going to continue to study them and figure out how they fit into my spiritual journey.

I am currently studying them and practicing how to use them because I believe they are my next step in this portion of my journey.

I think we all have aspects of our ancestry and culture that we need to explore and bring back into society. It's important to keep our cultures alive in the world we live in today.

Maybe there is something out there waiting for you to discover on your journey.

Blessings!
